Ismael Abdulrahman is an assistant professor at Erbil Polytechnic University in the Department of Information System Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) from Tennessee Technological University, USA, and a bachelor's and a master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Al-Mustansiriyah and Sulaimani Universities, respectively.
Ismael teaches Artificial Intelligence, Advanced Mathematics, and Electronic Circuits at the undergraduate level; Quantum Computing for master’s and Ph.D. students; and Advanced Deep Learning and Computer Vision for master’s students. He also has a series of educational videos on YouTube on quantum computing and deep learning in the Kurdish language. Currently, he is supervising two Ph.D. students and three master's students in the field of quantum machine learning.
His research interests include machine learning, deep learning, quantum computing, quantum machine learning, optimization, intelligent control and electrical systems. He is the first author of several original journal papers in electrical and computer engineering.
In addition to his academic activities, he has extensive experience in developing AI models, mobile applications, advanced simulation systems, and software solutions using Python, MATLAB, ArcGIS, CPLEX, PSSE, and related technologies. He is also the developer of Runaki Pro, a widely used Android application that provides one of the most advanced and comprehensive educational electricity bill calculators for the Runaki tariff system in the Kurdistan Region. Furthermore, he has actively participated in international AI competitions, achieving rankings within the top 1% globally.
